"To Learn, to Do, to Be"

Our LIVING prophet, President Thomas S. Monson, gave a marvelous talk to our Priesthood brethren...but, Sisters...the counsel he gave them is just as meaningful to US...He quoted these great verses out of Ezekiel 36:26-28....Then, President Monson asked the following questions: "How might we MERIT this PROMISE? What will qualify us to receive this BLESSING? Is there a guide to follow?"

He gave "3" imperatives for our consideration: "May we learn what we SHOULD LEARN, DO what we SHOULD DO, and BE what WE SHOULD BE."

He gave this promise...that "a kind Heavenly Father will HELP us in our QUEST."

  1. That enemy territory war story given by President Monson's friend was absolutely incredible! I had never heard that - everyone MUST read that!!

Just goes to show you that WE SO have a mission in this life - there is SOMETHING EACH of us HAS to do, to fulfill, to be! and Heavenly Father (if we let Him) is ever eager to show us WHO WE ARE SUPPOSE TO BE, WHAT WE ARE SUPPOSE TO LEARN AND DO!! even of course people not of our faith - He is everyone's Father.

That war story reminded me of my Dad and how his life was preserved as an Air Force fighter pilot in WWII. He was not a member yet. I think he was flying off those islands near Alaska and was coming back to a home base. There was no visibility; he was completely flying "blind" and his only link to safety was the voice on the radio that he found after much difficulty - the man was guiding him back to base - he spoke very "American"; spoke in believable terms of Air Force knowledge, etc....my Dad said all of a sudden though he had no reason to "suspect" this "help"; but a rush of heat came over him; he didn't know why or how, but knew he was in danger - within the very few seconds of this "impression" the thick cloud coverage parted ever so slightly - he was heading right smack into a huge mountain. He immediately pulled away from the mountain and avoided crashing into it. He did make it back safely to the base and told what had happened. I don't remember the details but a Japanese man had already killed some of their pilots with this deception - don't know how he got on their airwaves, but my Dad's life was spared - his "mission" (his purpose) was not fulfilled yet in this life - he was yet to find the gospel and bless our family with it.

  2. Thank you, Joanna, for sharing your Father's incredible story...I often thank Heavenly Father...for the GIFT of the HOLY GHOST...While I was on my mission...my companion was driving the car...and I had this distinct impression...and YELLED at my companion...SLOW DOWN NOW!!!! I scared her half to death, but, FORTUNATELY, she did exactly what I had yelled at her to do...for...had she NOT listened...we would have been hit HEAD ON..by an ONCOMING car...who was IN OUR LANE...coming around the corner...which we COULD NOT SEE...We had just enough time to get out of the way...
